Reception Site Backstory

Once upon a time in 1796, a man named John Young moved from Whitestone New York, to what is now Ohio. In 1797, he bought 15,560 acres from the Western Reserve Land Company, founding the city of Youngstown. Like most cities, Youngstown has a fondness for naming things after its founder.

Once upon a time in 1975, a man named Joseph Young moved from Philadelphia to Evanston, Illinois. Four years later, he and his young wife moved to Durham, North Carolina, before finally settling in Youngstown in the early 1980s. Eventually, they had three children, including me.

So when you arrive at the Youngstown Club and enter the John C. Young room for our reception, please know that even though the club is three floors above my father's office, we are not the same Youngs. This reception only looks pretentious.

In other words, we have a reception site.
